I have a bunch of buckles with this sort of faux scrimshaw with similar Western themes. This one is not marked nor is it brass so I think maybe the buckle was made to accomidate a scrimshaw piece made by one of the top makers such as Barlow. This is marked only 295, I've seen that number on the same buckle with a different design on the insert. I haven't ever seen this design before. Detailed Native American dancer. Beautiful. Buckle has a lot of swirly design on it and is a bronze looking metal. Perhaps all bronze? I don't know how to test for that. It is of high quality. The metal part is 2-1/4 by 3". The oval is 1-1/2" tall.
